Statistics and Research Officer at ZICTA

ROLE PURPOSE

To assist the Manager responsible for policy and research in carrying out Research and Development activities in line with the mandate of the Authority.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Undertake qualitative and quantitative research relating to various issues in the ICT and Postal sectors that contributes to regulations of requisite focus and quality.
• Provide timely input to government policy based on evidence through the development of ZICTA positions of various policy matters.
• Periodically undertake market .reviews to identify trends and any developments on the market with a view to provide recommendations for more effective regulation of the ICT and Postal sectors.
• Regularly engages with internal and external stakeholders in the ICT and Postal sector to identify research gaps.
• Facilitates support to innovation in the ICT sector with a view to promote the development of new products and services in the sector.
• Provides economic interpretation and regulatory support in the area of research.
• Performs any other function lawfully assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• • ·   Bachelor’s degree in Economics/ Mathematics/Statistics
  • ·    5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • ·    MA/MSc/Mcom Degree in Economics/Econometrics/Applied Statistics will be an
  •     added advantage
  • CORE COMPETENCIES
  • ·   Working knowledge of forecasting,micro econometrics, survey design and policy               analysis
  • ·Demonstrated experience in using statistical/econometric packages such as STATA, R      or SAS
  • ·  Self-starter, Innovative and excellent analytical skills
  • ·   Excellent report writing skills
  • ·  Strong data management capabilities
  • ·  Hands-on experience with research methodology
  • ·  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ·  Assertive, result oriented and able to work under pressure
  • ·  Bachelor’s degree in Economics/ Mathematics/Statistics
  • ·  5 years’ experience in a similar position
