Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the Commercial Division under the Treasury Department at Head Office for a period of 6 Months:-
Economist – Fixed Term (6 Months)
JOB PURPOSE
During the tenure of employment the Economist will report to the Senior Economist and will assist the Senior Economist in a range of functions.
Under the supervision of the Senior Economist, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:-
- To deliver analytic functions in support of operations.
- To conduct economic research in the area in financial and macroeconomic developments.
- To analyse and assess economic and financial developments in the global and domestic environment.
- To assist the Bank on economic questions that arise in the development of strategic plans.
- To assist other divisions that require assistance with economic analysis and data.
- To present economic information in formats that are understandable to stakeholders, to other staff, and to senior management.
- To conduct economic analysis relevant to operational needs of the Bank.
- To provide well-written economic advice on short notice on a variety of client and management issues.
- To participate in the production of economic reports (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly)
- To do forecasting of macroeconomic variables.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACT
- External: Government Agencies, Business Communities
- Internal: All Divisions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Economics, Finance or Econometrics
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or Econometrics is mandatory
- In the absence of an MA or MBA, they should possess a professional qualification such as CFA designation, or a First Degree in Economics, Finance or Econometrics and having cleared Level 1 of the CFA program.
- At least three (3) years relevant experience
- Communication Skills: The Economist must able to communicate results of their work to management and clients for decision-making.
- Critical Thinking: The use of logic and reasoning to deliberate on the possible economic situation of a business.
- Numerical Skill: Skills in statistics and econometrics and be able to interpret results from data analysis in a clear and consistent manner.
