The Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation Limited (ZAFFICO) is a parastatal organization responsible for establishing and managing exotic forest plantations in the country. The Corporation’s mission is to establish and sustainably manage forest plantations and supply quality wood and other forest products to its clients.
In pursuance of its mission, the Corporation is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the under listed position:
1.0 MANAGING DIRECTOR (4 YEARS CONTRACT)
2.0 REPORTING TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
2.1 JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the job is to direct and manage all functions and operations of the Corporation in order to ensure effective management and sustainability of the Corporation as a business.
2.2 MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB HOLDER
Develop and execute the company’s business strategies in order to attain the goals of the Board and shareholders; Provide strategic advice to the board and Chairperson so that they will have accurate view of the market and the company’s future; Direct and manage all ZAFFICO functions and operations in order to ensure effective management and sustainability of the Corporation; Oversee the Corporation financial performance and innovate other business ventures; Spearhead the development of the Corporation Strategic Plans and provide strategic advice to the Board of Directors; Provide vision and direction to garner the requisite synergies to maintain the Corporation’s competitiveness and sustainability; Implement, monitor, and ensure achievement of set goals and objectives; Coordinate departmental functions in order to ensure uniformity of actions, objectives and purposes; Plan and direct Corporation operations, provide guidance and decisions on matters critical to the effective and efficient operations of the Corporation; Monitor Corporation performance against set objectives and ensure that Heads of Departments implement corrective action and management resolutions; Consolidate corporate plans, reports and budgets, and present same to the Board of Directors for approval: Appoint appropriately skilled staff to manage Corporation operations; Provide effective communication conducive for effective undertaking of Corporation operations; and Attend Board and Committee meetings as a member. 3.0 REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience as Chief Executive Officer or other senior managerial position Demonstrable experience in developing strategic business plans Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the Corporation Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance Excellent organisational and leadership skills Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities 4.0 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or related Sciences/Bachelor of Arts Degree/Law or ACCA/CIMA Masters degree will be an added advantage Ten (10) years post qualifying hands-on experience in a senior management role.
