Yalelo is seeking a highly analytical, meticulous and hands-on Health and Safety Facilitator with extensive experience in Health and Safety. The Health and Safety Facilitator will work closely with the Health and Safety Superintendent and the Safety Health Environment & Quality Manager.
This position is open to Zambians only.
Location: The role will be primarily based at the Yalelo farm and Lake Operation in Siavonga.
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
The facilitator leads safety-training for employees, designs effective methods of measuring safety standards in the workplace, and conducts safety inspections on a routine basis. Manage and maintain PPE records as well as promotes continuous improvement practices that reduce the business Occupational health and safety risk.
The Right-Fit candidate will energize and facilitate the implementation of the OHSM systems in line with:
- Facilitate the development of safety procedures.
- Conduct health and safety inductions
- Coordinate non-routine risk assessment for equipment and activities.
- Update/maintain health and safety records.
- Facilitate the process of corrective actions from accident investigations and follow up on their completion.
- Maintain LOTO specification sheets
- Provide safety training/orientation for new employees and contractors.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and walkabout
- Review/update the safety component of all training manual.
- Follow up on mandatory Occupational health and safety management systems training and track attendance.
- Manage emergency management equipment inspections. (fire extinguisher, fire stations, work permit, etc.) and other related tasks.
Our Health and Safety Facilitator should have:
- A Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety/Science Laboratory Technology or Diploma in any Science or other relevant qualification
- Industry Experience: At least 1- 3 years’ work experience, preferably in the food industry and Mining industry
- Trained in SHE Function, First Aid, Fire Fighting, HIRA, Preliminary Incident investigation, ASHEP is an added advantage
- Knowledge of aquaculture marine systems is an added advantage
- Must have an excellent track record with maintenance and continuous improvement of Safety, health, and environment within a plant
- Must have working knowledge and experience of OHS Act and Compensation for Occupational Injury and Disease Act, Environmental Legislation and other relevant legislation
- Knowledgeable about ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001; ISO22001:2018
- Analytical: Unpack Data and make sense of it – must be very strong
- Highly disciplined
- Ability to work well independently and in a team-based environment.
- Ability to work a schedule outside business hours and/or flexible shifts.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to work in a team.
- Be detail-oriented and meticulous.
