Terms of reference for Intern to support engagement in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Processes

ABOUT IAAZ
IAAZ is a Zambian professional association formed by individuals involved in the field of Impact Assessments. The association was founded in the year 2008. The association aims to provide a forum for advancing innovation and communication of best practice in all forms of environmental impact assessment in order to further the development of capacity in impact assessment and awareness among all stakeholders as well as raise level of understanding and awareness among organizations (civil societies, etc) whose objective is to speak for the under privileged who are mostly victims of developmental projects that are environmentally not sound.
BACKGROUND
In 2019, WWF and IAAZ signed an MoU to establish a formal basis for collaboration to clarify, agree and formalize the respective roles of the Parties to implement the main objective. The main objective of this MoU is to build the level of awareness, understanding and technical assistance in ESIA and SEA processes through trainings and other activities for ESIA and SEA Practioners and organizations (civil societies, etc). With background, WWF and IAAZ are looking to hire an intern to support the implementation of activities under this MoU.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES FOR INTERN
With support from the Freshwater Coordinator and Wetlands Officer (WWF) and the Environmental Governance Officer (IAAZ), the main responsibilities under this role will include:
- Work with IAAZ Executive and WWF to support the logistical arrangements for all ESIA/SEA trainings, field visits and events management
- Support the drafting and compilation of reports related to ESIA/SEA processes
- Support the development of Communication materials on ESIA/SEA processes
- Track progress on existing and planned ESIA/SEA processes and events
- Support IAAZ Executive Committee to implement the Forums strategic plan
- Facilitate correspondence with IAAZ Members
- Coordinate Membership recruitment and updating memberships records
- Undertake administrative duties to support program activities including filing and financial recording/ keeping for IAAZ
- Support other environmental governance activities as need arises.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, or related field;
- A collaborator, able to build effective collaborations and networks
- Good verbal and written communication skills

CONTRACT DURATION
An initial six months, with the possibility of renewal by mutual consent
