Lead, Sustainable Livelihoods at Winrock International

Winrock is seeking a professional to lead the sustainable livelihoods component of an anticipated USAID-funded project in Zambia to scale up clean cooking technologies and fuels, while reducing charcoal production and use. The Lead for Sustainable Livelihoods will supervise local partners to implement and scale up livelihood efforts which provide alternatives to charcoal production in targeted areas. This position is contingent on receipt of donor funding.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

• Degree in agricultural economics, agriculture education, agricultural extension, agroforestry, or a relevant field

Work Experience:

• A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience

• Zambia experience

• Experience with on- and off-farm alternative livelihoods and rural income generation
• Experience successfully introducing sustainable livelihoods that reduce impacts on natural resources
• Experience successfully promoting smallholder out-grower schemes
• Experience analyzing the impacts of different livelihoods on forest cover

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with local Chiefs and Traditional Leaders, and local religious leaders

Skills:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to motivate staff and partners to be accountable for project outcomes

• Demonstrated organizational skills and strong track record in meeting deliverables and deadlines
• Ability to provide oversight of financial and operational aspects of projects
