Description
WeForest Zambia is a local NGO that is looking to expand its team with a new professional Finance and Admin Officer who will work in a dynamic team on our objective towards co-managing Katanino forest reserve, Masaiti District. The officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and the Finance Manager and will mainly be active in the field office near Katanino. The Officer will be responsible for all financial and administrative matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the financials of the Katanino project of WeForest Zambia, and ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial reports, including cash book management, payroll,ledgers and other aspects of local financial management.
- Responsible for entering financial information, timely month end close, and maintaining all financial records for the Katanino project.
- Prepare, examine, or analyse accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards;
- Manage financial controls, analyse office and project budgets and assist on the planning activities;
- Support the Project Manager, incoordinating and facilitating all finance and administration tasks;
- Responsible for the administration of insurances, contracting and administrating services in accordance with the institution’s standards and policies;
- Prepare reports and communicate to the Finance Manager as requested;
- Manage fixed assets of the institution, review and support the preparation of inventories;
- Responsible for procurement of project goods and services approved by the office. Assist all logistic arrangements for field work and organize field and meeting schedules with partner institutions;
- Assist with other communication and reporting activities of the project;
- Support, where possible, the team in facilitating their work such as, but not limited to, data entry, analysis,administration tasks,field visits, stakeholder engagements etc
- Support, when applicable, local partners of WeForest Zambia through training and extensionist services in finance and admin such as, but not limited to, local plant nurseries, farmer associations and the local Trust.
- Any other duties assigned.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Education: A minimum of diploma in Accounting, Business management or Equivalent.
- Language: Fluent in English (both speaking and writing) and Bemba/Lamba.
- Work experience: Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience in the sector.
- Skills: Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Exposure to and experience of the NGO sector is considered a plus.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications particularly MS Excel and MS Access, Payroll Management, email and other relevant computer skills.
- Strong and comfortable working in remote areas and in a dynamic team.
- Be willing to relocate and live near Katanino, Masaiti District.

CONDITIONS
- Full-time, up to a maximum of 44 hours per week. Working Monday through Saturday morning, hours will vary depending on project needs and flexibility is essential.
- Fixed term one year contract, with potential to extend to a two year contract subject to performance and availability. A three months’ probation period is included in the contract.
- Based close to Katanino forest reserve, where the Project office is being established.
- Remuneration based on experience but approx. 5,500 ZMK monthly gross salary (gratuity and allowances included).
