The University of Lusaka one of the leading private Universities in Zambia has continued to expand and will this August 2019 start running the medical training program (MBChB). In this regard, the School of Medicine is calling for suitably qualified persons to fill the positions listed below in the following key areas;
CLINICAL SCIENCES
1. PROFESSOR
Description
This is a senior academic position requiring extensive experience in administration of academic programs, an international track record in training, research and teaching.
Responsibilities:
- To conduct high quality research in the field of clinical sciences
- To teach undergraduate and postgraduates students in the field of clinical sciences.
- To manage both undergraduate and postgraduate students results both continuous and final assessment
- To supervise and mentor junior staff in the field of clinical sciences
- To provide academic oversight relating to staff recruitment, staff development, staff performance, student admission, progression and examination.
- To participate in academic planning for the School and the University.
Qualifications
- Basic Medical Degree – MB ChB, MBBS or equivalent
- Clinical Postgraduate qualification – M. Med in a clinical field,
- Fellowship of the Royal colleges of the United Kingdom (FRCS, FRCP etc.) or equivalent
- Registration as a Specialistwith the Health Professionals Council
- 10 years teaching/research experience
Additional Requirements
These qualifications are not essential but will be looked upon as enhancing the application
- Additional postgraduate degree in medical science or research such as MSc, MPH, PHD etc.
- Previous appointment at this rank in other training institutions
2. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/SENIOR LECTURER
Description
This is a senior academic position requiring experience in administration of academic programs, an international track record in training, research and teaching.
Responsibilities:
- To conduct high quality research in the field of clinical sciences
- To teach undergraduate and postgraduates students in the field of clinical sciences.
- To manage both undergraduate and postgraduate students results both continuous and final assessment
- To supervise and mentor junior staff in the field of clinical sciences
- To provide academic oversight relating to staff recruitment, staff development, staff performance, student admission, progression and examination.
- To participate in academic planning for the School and the University.

This is an academic position at three levels of potential appointment, Lecturer 1, 2 and 3. The applicant is required to have some experience or interest in administration of academic programs, training, research and teaching.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and improve course outlines and teaching materials for the assigned courses.
- Supervise students’ research work and should be able to teach the assigned courses
- Prepare lesson plans at the start of each semester for the assigned courses
- To conduct or participate in basic research
Qualifications
- Basic Medical Degree – MB ChB, MBBS or equivalent
- Clinical Postgraduate qualification – M. Med in a clinical field, Fellowship of the Royal colleges of the United Kingdom (FRCS, FRCP etc.) orequivalent

- To provide academic oversight relating to staff recruitment, staff development, staff performance, student admission, progression and examination.
- To participate in academic planning for the School and the University
Basic Requirements
- Basic Medical/Science Degree – BSc, MB ChB, MBBS or equivalent
- Basic Science Postgraduate qualification – MSc, PHD, MRCPath or equivalent in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Parasitology, Pathology, Microbiology etc.
- Registration as a Science Specialist with the Health Professionals Council
- 10 years teaching/research experience
Additional Requirements
These qualifications are not essential but will be looked upon as enhancing the application
- Additional postgraduate degree in clinical science or research such as M. Med. MRCPath, MPH etc.
- Previous appointment at this rank in other training institutions.
2. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

SOCIAL SCIENCES IN MEDICINE
1. LECTURER

Basic Requirements
- Basic Social Science Degree – BA or equivalent
- Social Science Postgraduate qualification – MA, PHD in a social science field such as Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy Ethics etc.
- 5 years teaching/research experience
Additional Requirements
These qualification are not essential but will be looked upon as enhancing the application
- A degree in Medicine or Dentistry MBChB, BDS
- Previous experience at a Medical School.
