The University of Lusaka, one of the leading private Universities in Zambia has continued to expand and since February 2019 has added the School of Medicine and Health Sciences to make 5 schools. The School of Medicine and Health Sciences currently offers the Medical Degree (MBChB Degree) and the Public Health Degree (BSc PH). The School plans to introduce the Bachelors Degree in Nursing in 2020. In view of this, the School is advertising the position of coordinator for Nursing Sciences in the school of Medicine and Health Sciences.
NURSING SCIENCES
Coordinator Nursing Sciences
Description
This is a senior academic position requiring extensive experience in administration of academic programs, an international track record in training, research and teaching.
Responsibilities:
- To set up the foundational and regulator systems for commencement of Nursing Sciences Training
- To conduct relevant research of high impact in the area of Nursing Sciences
- To teach undergraduate and postgraduates students in the field of Nursing Sciences.
- To manage both undergraduate and postgraduate students results – both continuous and final assessment
- To supervise and mentor junior staff in the field of clinical sciences
- To provide academic oversight relating to staff recruitment, staff development, staff performance, student admission, progression and examination.
- To participate in academic planning for the School and the University.
Qualifications
- Basic Nursing Degree – BSc Nursing Sciences or equivalent at an approved institution
- Nursing Postgraduate qualification – MSc in Nursing Sciences or equivalent at an approved institution
- Registration with General Nursing Council
- 5 to 10 years teaching/ research experience
Additional Requirements
These qualifications are not essential but will be looked upon as enhancing the application:
- Additional postgraduate degree in Medical Science or research such as MSc, MPH, PHD etc.
- Previous appointment at this rank in other training institutions
- Certificate or diploma in Nursing Education
