Head Miller at Star Milling Limited

Star Milling Limited requires the services of a qualified person to fill the position of Head Miller. The Head Miller is responsible for managing a high complex Maize milling unit.  The successful candidate must ensure that personnel and equipment will operate safely and productively. This person will proactively schedule maintenance of equipment to ensure maximum efficiency.  The Head Miller reports directly to the Managing Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PRODUCTION

• Provide technical support on process equipment in order to achieve optimal performance.
• Maximize the capacity and efficiency of the plant while ensuring product quality.
• Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts required for proper operation including roles.
• Responsible for coaching and developing staff operation skills

HEALTH AND SAFETY

• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations relating to health and safety.
• Investigate incidents (root cause analysis) and develop preventive measures.

SANITATION / FOOD SECURITY

• Coordinate the preparation of the plant for food audits.
• Maintain sanitation of the plant at a level that meets the requirements of food safety.
• Work with the management team to strategize and execute a shift away from fumigation to Integrated Pest Management

REQUIREMENTS

• College degree or extensive experience in the field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of food processing.
• Excellent skills with computers, in problem solving, communication and leadership skills.
• Mastering Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) programs.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
• This person is required to walk, climb ladders, use tools and work in confined spaces, sometimes in extreme temperatures.
• Be able to work in an environment of industrial and office work for extended periods of time.
