Country Manager at Spar Zambia

Reporting to: Retail Operations Director, based in South Africa.

SPAR Zambia, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd, is recruiting for a Country Manager, based in Lusaka, Zambia.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this position is to grow the retail market share, retail sales of both corporate and independent retail stores. Effectively coordinate the North Rand and Zambian team, to achieve excellence in both operational and logistic support to stores. Provide effective and efficient retail consulting service, ensuring growth and profitability of existing and new stores.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Manage and lead the Operations function in Zambia
• Development and implementation of a strategic plan for the country
• Develop and Manage budgets for SPAR Zambia
• Establish new business opportunities
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance the image and success of the SPAR Brand in Zambia
• Provide leadership and support to retailers in new business development, store development, and current retail management best operating practices.
• Provide leadership to and consult with the North Rand support team on Zambian, Operations, Marketing and Logistic issues
• Provide leadership to and consult with the SPAR North Rand Export team
• Aggressively drive sales in new and existing stores while ensuring both corporate and independent profitability is achieved
• Build and manage strong retailer relationships and be flexible and responsive to both corporate and independent customer needs, as well as all parties involved with the export process

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management
• At least 1 0 years’ retail experience
• 5 years’ retail management experience at senior level
• In-depth understanding on the Export and Import process involved on the African continent
• Excellent Business acumen and Operational financial skills
• Thorough understanding of SPAR retail business model
• Demonstrate strategic thinking and outlook
• Excellent track record of meeting operational objectives and custonner expectations
• Have high energy, be a self-starter, be able to collaborate and have a strong work ethic
• Be able to operate independently
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Be a strategic thinker
• Be sociable and have the ability to build strategic relationships
• Have high tolerance for stress
• Be flexible and adaptable based on challenges faced
• Extensive travelling to Zambia is an essential requirement for the position
