Description
The Southern Provincial Health Office under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is seeking for eligible, self-motivated and qualified applicants for the positions listed below for the various levels (Provincial, District, Facility and Community)
(A) PROVINCIAL LEVEL
JOB TITLE: TB/HIV TECHNICAL OFFICER (01 POSITION)
Purpose: Responsible for providing technical support to implement high quality care and support activities with primary focus on tuberculosis control and treatment as well as all issues surrounding TB/HIV co-infection and will also provide technical leadership and support related to TB/HIV collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the liaison between the MoH and implementing partners/stakeholders including community based organisations, health care facilities, and the NTB National TB/HIV Coordinator on issues relating to the implementation of TB/HIV collaborative activities
- Document gather, and analyse records of TB/HIV collaborative activities at supported facilities, as well as case-based information in electronic format
- Provide support to the effective referral system of tuberculosis and HIV patients to ensure integration of TB and HIV services within the district
- Conduct supportive and supervisory visits to TB and HIV care facilities, prepare reports on supervisory visits, and provide remedial actions on constraints to the district/regional/national and the facilities visited
- Participate in all TB/HIV forums at local level and provide updates as required.
- Work with the district TB and leprosy coordinators, HIV focal nurses and other focal persons and support them to provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding implementation of the TB/HIV collaborative activities.
- Support local training efforts at district and regional level
- Coordinate and assist with supportive supervision and mentoring of community-based and facility-based Health Care Workers in the day-to-day implementation of TB/HIV collaborative activities.
- Liaise with Regional and District TB/HIV staff, focal persons, Clinical Mentors, quality improvement focal persons, laboratory technologists and other key staff involved in quality improvement, clinical mentorship and supportive supervision to integrate TB/HIV collaborative activities into existing health service delivery platforms and build sustainable systems for TB/HIV.
- Compile monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc reports in required formats
- Provide support for all aspects of data collection and reporting by all stakeholders, and help to identify barriers/challenges and work with the DTLCs and regional TB/HIV Coordinator to address these in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with Five (5) O’ Levels
- Degree/Diploma in a Clinical Medicine
- At least two years of relevant work experience in the field of TB and HIV control activities with at least one year in a supervisory role
- Experience with recording, reporting and other monitoring and evaluation activities
- Computer literate, with high competency in using Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
