Junior Project Manager – Ranching at Silverland Ranching Limited

CATTLE FARMING – JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Fixed Term Contract 3-6 months

A large commercial farming operation in Zimba, Zambia; is seeking to employ the services of a responsible young man, in his mid-twenties, with a solid understanding/experience in commercial cattle farming and with an added tertiary education in agriculture/farming; (preferably grown up on similar farm.) The position is best suited for person(s) looking for an internship position. Fixed Contract position for 3-6 months.

Responsibilities include

Applicant will be supported by operational field staff who know the ranch and by senior-management.

Remuneration Negotiable depending on qualifications & relevant experience
In addition, accommodation will be provided. Incumbent will be responsible for his own meals.

Transport: Company will provide transport for work purposes & to and from accommodation.

Requirements:

• A Tertiary education in Agriculture. Animal husband or other farming modules are an added benefit
• Require min 3 years’ experience on commercial farming. (growing up on a commercial farm may be considered to contribute to experience)
• Computer literate – including excel
• An understanding of record keeping necessary to extract accurate results for cattle rearing both grazing & feedlotting.
• Ability to self-manage his time
• Responsible to produce accurate reports
• Drivers licence & ability to ride a motorbike
• Traceable references.

This is a farming position during the summer (rain) months. Applicant’s health needs to be such that he can endure the long hot Zambian days in the outdoor farming.
