Manager Scrap Procurement (2 Years Renewable Contract)
Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
Job Overview:
1. The Scrap Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and monitoring a scrap purchasing and inventory control strategy. The role closely collaborates with production, process control and finance functions to oversee vendor selection, price negotiation, and forecasting while holding the scrap procurement team accountable for achieving their daily targets in the respective KPI’s.
Responsibilities:
1. Plans and manages the overall scrap sourcing strategy from local and foreign sources.
2. Analyses and makes suggestions for engaging reliable scrap vendors.
3. Negotiates and signs long-term scrap procurement agreements with strategic scrap suppliers.
4. Negotiates pricing and control costs to achieve yearly purchase price variance targets.
5. Manages and directs subordinates involved in the scrap purchasing process.
6. Stays updated with scrap sales/marketing trends.
7. Establishes robust processes to optimize scrap inflow from vendors.
8. Coordinates/network with production, process control and other teams.
9. Assists production teams in establishing material/operations reviews to ensure key operational metrics are implemented and understood.
Qualifications;
1. Full grade 12 certificate.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy/Purchasing & Supply or its equivalent.
3. Professional membership.
4. Five years working experience in manufacturing industry.
