Position : Project Coordinator-Early Childhood Care and Development Education (ECCDE) (1 Position)
Duty Station: Mongu
Role Purpose:
To contribute to Save the Children’s Education Strategic plan, S/he is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, guidance, technical backstopping and management to the Early Childhood Care and Development Education(ECCDE) Program, in line with United Convention on the Rights of a Child (UN CRC), and national policy frameworks; technical assistance on ECCDE to district offices and partners, ensuring delivery of program at implementing sites by maximizing the impact and best utilizing the available resources. The incumbent will be reporting to the Education Program Manager.
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordination of ECCDE project activities in Western Province
- Supporting the partners to implement programmes in the education thematic area.
- Documenting of project/partner experiences to capture the good and bad practices, the results and impacts achieved and any other experiences relevant for sharing with others
- Ensure effective implementation of ECCDE programme including establishment of indoor and outdoor play centres; and training of care givers and other duty bearers
- Responsible for training design related to ECCD, BE and Inclusive learning for partners/key stakeholders
- Analysing the reports and funding requests from the partners, giving feed-back and recommending transfer of funds
- Orient parents, caregivers and other duty bearers of Basic Education and ECCD on child rights
- Prepare quality semi-annual and annual reports as per the requirements of the agency and the grants on time
- Ensure timely disbursement of funds to implementing partners including ensuring efficient utilisation funds
- Undertake periodic field monitoring visit
- Ensure support of policy engagement and advocacy
- Liaise with other practitioners in a similar field of work and with government on policy and practice issues and informing them of our interventions and work.
- The post holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
Qualification and Experience
- Degree in Education related field with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of Early Childhood Care and Development /Basic Education
- Demonstrated skills in the design of ECCD/Basic Education programs
- Experience in proposal development
- Good analytical and report writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to set and achieve objectives
- Strong knowledge in project cycle management
- English language proficiency a must
- Strong communication (verbal and writing skills), interpersonal and representational skills
- Flexible and adaptable to dynamic changes and fast-paced work environment
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Knowledge of word, Microsoft excel and power point
Child Safeguarding:
Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people
