Description
Reporting the Procurement and Logistics Officer, the driver is to assist Rapid Aluminium to fulfill their mission of being the best Aluminium Fenestration Company in Zambia by providing safe and reliable support and general logistical work.
REPORTING STRUCTURE/RELATIONSHIP
The Driver reports to the Procurement and Logistics Officer
The Driver works closely with the Installation managers
RESPONSIBILITIES
Driving
- Drive the vehicle for official business engagements or as requested by the Directors
- Ensure punctuality and safe driving
- Observe the road and traffic laws and regulations of the republic of Zambia
- Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed standards
- Alcohol / Drugs must NOT be consumed or present whilst on duty, Drivers will be breathalyzed for Alcohol, Daily on reporting and during Shift on a weekly random basis.
CAR SECURITY AND MAINTENANCE
- Ensure vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in good working conditions at all times
- Ensure vehicle is kept secure at all times
- Ensure vehicle is given regular day to day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres etc.
- Ensure vehicle repairs are carried out by official manufacturers specifications or by management approved garages
- Ensure that the vehicle has valid insurance, fitness and road tax certificates at all times
- Ensure that the vehicle has all basic requirements as per the laws of Zambia i.e Triangles, fire extinguisher, first aid box etc.
- Ensure vehicle is serviced on schedule.
CAR LOGBOOK MAINTENANCE
- Log all trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil change, water top up etc.
ADMINISTRATIVE WORKS
- Assist with regard to delivery of invoices, collection of payments, stationery etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This is a Lusaka based full-time position with extensive local travel and possible out of town trips
- The successful candidate shall be offered a one year contract after 3 months’ probation. Salary will be set according to the Rapid Aluminium Salary Scale

- Experience with off road driving in difficult conditions (D)

Client Interaction
- Must communicate in well spoken English clearly and must have neat and tidy written English.
- Collecting customer details and directing them to the relevant person
- Customer liaison.
- Providing profile samples to the Clients and demonstrations / explanations of the various different Frame Designs and options.
Health and Safety
- To ensure that all personnel have and wear their personally issued uniforms, safety boots, and safety glasses / gloves / face masks, ear protectors as and where applicable.
- To ensure safe loading / offloading and storage of Profiles, frames, glass, boards, steel, scaffolding, fuel, consumables, products against collapse toppling, structural failure, fire, water damage, rain / weather.
- To ensure that the Vehicles and car park/ yard is kept clean and tidy always.
- To ensure that all loads are securely and safely Fastened / tightened / secure for transportation.
Supporting the Sales Officer, Maintenance Foreman and Installations Managers in:
- Managing the warranties provided for the repairs jobs done in the workshop.
- Booking of appointments, maintenance appointments and site visits,
- Data inputting.
- Filing of all quotations, Hand over certificates and ensuring all debts are collected.
- Preparing of material lists and ordering of glass and Aluminium profiles and products.

Administration / Office environment and surroundings
- To ensure all vehicles are safely parked overnight at the offices or safely at a Police Post / station / pre agreed safe location when out of town.
- To ensure all vehicle keys are safely stored and or returned at the end of each shift.
- To provide written Trip / Journey reports when requested by Management.
- To attend to police fines and make payment for traffic offences committed.
- To pick up and drop off specified clients, staff members, family members as instructed by Senior Management.
Any other Duties as instructed by Senior Management.
