Description
This position reports to the GM: Projects & Studies.
CORE PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Permitting Manager will manage the
environmental permitting process for the Extension Project. This is a key role
in the Project team, accountable for directing and executing time sensitive permitting
efforts, leading ZEMA permitting actions, and providing strategic input and
decision making. The Permitting Manager will deliver permits and authorizations
on time, within budget and serve as a liaison representing the client to the
requisite government agencies, consultants, and stakeholders.

Analyse risk to the permitting process and
provide timely feedback to management
Professional
and Academic Qualifications and Experience:
·
Bachelor of Science Degree in an applicable
Science or Engineering technical discipline with 10+ years of experience in environmental
permitting in an African environment OR
·
15+ Years of demonstrated work in senior environmental
permitting roles
Relationships and Abilities:
·
Sound understanding of environmental
compliance
·
Solid understanding of large-scale mining
operations is preferred
· Proven
technical expertise and sound understanding of environmental laws, policies,
objectives and issues is required
· Demonstrated
ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with internal staff,
regulators, and other stakeholders is required
·
Excellent written and oral communication
skills are required
· Ability
to work independently and as part of a fast-moving team is required
· Provide
technical or administrative support where necessary
·
Keep abreast of developing regulatory issues
affecting the permitting process
