Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme areas (PAs) in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.
We are looking for experienced, vibrant and self-starters to fill the following Emergency Response Positions in Central Province:
COMMUNITY MOBILIZERS FOOD CRISIS – Temporal Position (Central Province –X6)
Position Description:
Community Mobilisers will work closely with the Community Based Child Protection Mechanisms to identify and refer vulnerable children for Case Management services.
Support the Case workers where active in following up referrals. He/she will be line managed by the Community Based Child Protection Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee interventions in the Safe Spaces during distributions in Chisamba District by providing supervision, tools/resources, training and coaching to Safe Space Volunteers (Animators)
- Support the development and implementation of Safe Space weekly/ monthly work plans, submit monthly reports on activities and challenges, support planning and implementation of activities, monitor minimum standards in the Safe Spaces and ensure equipment & materials in the Safe Space are maintained in good condition.
- Liaise with implementing partners and government stakeholders at the community level to ensure all children access psychosocial support services.
- Design and facilitate community mobilization/sensitization campaigns in collaboration with Case Workers, Community Based Protection Mechanisms, and children/adolescents
- Provide psychosocial support services to children and their families in line with the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action
- Ensure staff and volunteer sign and adhere to Plan International’s Code of Conduct and are trained in the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Diploma in Social work, Counseling Psychology, or relevant discipline.
- Previous work experience in community development or with an INGO (preferably in child protection)
- Experience in facilitating community meetings
- Minimum 2 years of professional humanitarian experience (past experience working with Chisamba or Chibombo communities a plus)
- Excellent writing, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Excellent command of the English language and another local language Strong drive for results and ensuring timely delivery of quality products.
- Experience in Community Based programming and Child Safe Spaces/ Child Friendly Spaces
