Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme areas (PAs) in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.
We are looking for experienced, innovative, motivated, self-starter individuals to fill the following position:
Temporary Water & Sanitation Officer – Central Program Area
Position Description:
The Temporary Water & Sanitation Officer’s role is to deliver the Water and Sanitation component of Plan Zambia’s Water and Sanitation Country Program (through the Sanitation in Peri Urban Areas-SPA project) in line with the Country Strategy Plan (CSP) by contributing to the four global outcomes areas; learn, lead, decide and thrive
Responsibilities:
- Establish/strengthen the financial mechanisms/instruments that fit the affordability levels of poorer households and enable them to improve their own sanitation situation.
- Establish/strengthen sanitation marketing mechanisms/instruments that fit the requirements of poorer households creating a real demand for affordable supply of appropriate pro-poor services and products to enable them to improve their own sanitation situation
- Design the Water and Sanitation Projects of the PA
- Participate in the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of project in the Program Area
- Establishing partnerships with NGO’S and government entities and various stakeholders to leverage resources, increase local resource mobilization and ensure long term sustainability of the project activities
- Documenting achievements and best practices in project for internal and external circulation through reports, most successful case (MSC) stories and case studies,
- Inclusion of Child protection component in all training activities
Educational Qualification and Experience
- Minimum qualification; Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences, Water Engineering and related fields.
- Three years practical experience in a similar role in a development organization.
- Must possess proven ability to create good working relationships with partners, donors, NGO’S and relevant line ministries
- Good community participatory skills
- Excellent public speaking and writing skills
- Excellent project, planning, monitoring and evaluation.
- Advanced computer skills
- Knowledge of local language
