Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme areas (PAs) in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.
We are looking for experienced, innovative, motivated, self-starter individuals to fill the following position:
Warehouse Clerk – Mantapala Refugee Settlement, Luapula Province
Position Description:
This position will be responsible for overseeing the store and management of all commodity that is procured to support the Education project by Plan International Zambia for the Congolese refugees’ settlement in Nchelenge district, Luapula PA. The position will also be responsible for record keeping and tallying of commodity in line with donor standards as well as promoting accountability to communities, especially children. This position will work closely with the Ministry of Education, UNHCR and will liaise with relevant international and national actors.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all commodity purchased under the Education project by controlling the effective use of the goods received notes and dispatch records.
- Accounting for all goods received by thoroughly confirming commodities received and stored in the warehouse..
- Development of tally record sheets as well as maintain up-to-date records of all commodities and maintaining all warehouse files.
- Daily reconciliation of stock and timely reports on any shortages, damages or excess to the warehouse supervisor.
- Conduct truck inspection and prepare the respective report.
- Training of casual loaders on how to stack and handle commodities.
- Make sure, were possible, that all torn bags are reconstituted and repacked.
- Ensure all commodities have stack cards and are updated after every transaction.
- Ensure commodities are stored and managed in line with warehousing acceptable standards always.
- Ensure warehouse is kept clean and safe
- Must demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity
Qualifications:
- School Certificate of Education or GSCE O Levels with Mathematics/ Accounts and English
- Certificate in Stores Management and any other relevant qualification
- 3 years’ warehouse /stores experience
- Computer literate
- Experience with refugee/marginalized communities desired
