Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme areas (PAs) in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.
We are looking for experienced, vibrant and self-starters to fill the following Positions:
COMMUNITY BASED CHILD PROTECTION SUPERVISOR (CBCP) – Temporal Position (Kabwe)
Position Description:
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the community mobilizers in planning, implementing, and monitoring the community awareness activities and Community Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPCs) in the settlements and host communities in which Plan International Zambia is operating in either Chisamba or Chibombo District. He/she will be line managed by the Child Protection Coordinator. The CBCP Supervisor will provide direction and technical support on all issues related to programming and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Plan weekly schedules for the community mobilizers to ensure all targeted areas of operation are reached with activities. Ensure that logistical requirements of activities are organized in a timely manner.
- Supervise the outreach activities of the community mobilizers, ensuring key messages are disseminated appropriately using community mechanisms according to age and gender.
- Work with Child Protection coordinator to establish good relations with all CBCPCs within areas of operation, including planning and implementation of meetings and sessions with CBCPCs as indicated in the project proposal.
- Ensure all community based CP activities are well planned and carried out with participation from relevant community members and aimed to strengthen the protection environment for children at community level.
- Work collaboratively with the Case Management Supervisor to ensure good linkage with case workers and safe referrals of concerns internally.
- Oversee adolescent girl group activities, and ensure sessions are carried out in a gender-sensitive and participatory manner.
- With support from the CP Coordinator, ensure that risk mapping and action planning activities are carried out with children and CBCPCs at community level.
- Oversee interventions in the Safe Spaces during distributions in Chisamba District by providing supervision, tools/resources, training and coaching to Community Mobilizers and/or Safe Space Volunteers (Animators)
- Support the development and implementation of Safe Spaces at distribution sites, monitor minimum standards in the Safe Spaces and ensure equipment & materials in the Safe Space are maintained in good condition Submit timely weekly and monthly reports to CP Coordinator, and contribute to report writing.
- Ensure full data collection as needed to fulfill monitoring and evaluation needs of the projects.
- If required, represent Plan at inter-agency or district level coordination meetings.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelors in Social work, Counseling, Psychology, or relevant discipline.
- Previous work experience in community development or with an INGO (preferably in child protection)
- At least 2 years previous experience managing a team
- Experience in facilitating community meetings
- Minimum 2 years of professional humanitarian experience (past experience working with Chisamba or Chibombo communities a plus)
- Excellent writing, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Excellent command of the English language and another local language Strong drive for results and ensuring timely delivery of quality products.
- Experience in Community Based programming and Child Safe Spaces/ Child Friendly Spaces
- Must possess strong skills in monitoring, evaluation, research and conducting participatory, community-led assessments. Experience working with databases and providing regular documentation.
- Excellent community mobilization skills
