The Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) has the following vacant positions it wishes to fill:

NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR (SALARY SCALE: P4)

JOB PURPOSE: To effectively manage the network and telecommunications infrastructure by designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure improvements. The person will be responsible for ensuring network administration, monitoring and managing network connectivity, telephony, videoconferencing and security.

The successful candidate will report to the Systems Analyst – Infrastructure and Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

a) Full Grade Twelve Certificate
b) Degree in Computer Science or other related field
c) Not less than three years’ experience in the Information and Communication Technology profession.
d) Advanced support experience on Microsoft Operating Systems
e) Proven experience in systems administration with Ms Exchange, Active Directory.
f) Excellent knowledge of Cisco Routers, Firewalls, Switches, wireless links and associated software.
g) Advanced routing, switching and wireless networking.
h) Not less than 30 years of age
i) No criminal record

MAIN DUTIES

a) To manage the network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, IP telephony and Unified Communications. Analyse Network Infrastructure and Telecommunications and requirements and advise on corrective measures and improvements if necessary.
b) To proactively monitor all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and Service Level Agreements.
c) To plan, install and maintain the datacentre environment including switches and routers and system administration.
d) To establish and maintain the quality of telecommunications/data communications through active monitoring and interpretation of such monitoring reports
e) To install and manage windows server related services (including Active Directory, DNS, Exchange, etc.)
f) To troubleshoot all of the following, including, but not limited to: SMTP, SNMP, SSL, SSH, DNS, RDP, TCP, ICMP, and UDP
