COMMUNICATIONS & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES MANAGER
1. Purpose of the Job
To be the point of escalation for all service interruptions, managing new technology upgrades, oversee all crisis and incident management processes and to lead and supervise direct staff.
2. Key Responsibilities
a) To manage the networking and technical unit and provide effective/efficient IT Technical Support to all entities by ensuring that all IT services with respect to all computers, networks and other related systems in NATSAVE are always optimally working
b) Direct and manage staff in the Networks and Technical Unit, including ensuring that the bank’s performance tracking and management mechanisms are in effect
c) Develop team targets and goals, manage talent and identify staff development needs.
d) Co-ordinate training for all staff in the section and monitor progress on staff development.
e) Identify shortcomings in the IT technical environment and provide technical device on new technology that is appropriate to the Bank
f) Ensure uptime on all infrastructure services is maintained according to SLA
g) Ensure the banks hardware and software licenses are updated
h) Manage, maintain and monitor all hardware and software related to VMWare, AIX, Windows, Linux, and Office.
i) Planning, designing, and installing the banks’ networks and hardware in line with the Banks policy.
j) Managing monitoring, controlling and maintaining the banks’ infrastructure in line with the Banks standards.
k) Creating and maintaining IT technology standards, documentation and procedures the banks’ in line with bank standards.
l) Analyze issues and ensure that technical support is provided in line with the Service Level Agreements that the IT department has with Branches and Head Office departments.
m) Provide technical advice on new technology that is appropriate to banking services
n) Procure the necessary IT equipment in line with the bank’s development needs
o) Review reports from periodic checks conducted by the technical team and advice remedy if necessary.
p) Ensure capacity management, monitoring and replication of services is happening as per RTO
q) Manage and coordinate the distribution and assignment of computer hardware and peripherals.
r) Ensure timely and efficient provision of technical support by third party vendors to the telecommunication equipment, servers and other IT related equipment.
s) Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely/effective provision of technical support
t) Coordinate the implementation of technical projects related changes without degradation of services
u) Ensuring appropriate security control is maintained in the IT department and all installed services in the bank.
v) Conduct periodic reviews on installed technical services teams to ensure compliance.
w) Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers, vendors and services providers.
x) Provide timely reports and feedback to management (formal and documented) on monthly basis.
y) Any other duties as assigned by superiors
3. Qualifications and Experience
- Full grade 12 certificate
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field
- Six years Technical/Systems Support /Programming experience is required in Banking/ ICT of which three years’ experience in managing LAN/WAN preferable
- Knowledge in Management practices, skills and concepts, administration, project control, supervisory techniques and budgeting
- In-depth knowledge of and experience in hardware maintenance, communications and Networking systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications and technologies, Exchange, Active Directory, WINS, DNS UNIX and CISCO Products.
