The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. NDI has supported democratic institutions and practices in every region of the world for more than two decades. Since its founding in 1983, NDI and its local partners have worked to establish and strengthen political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and promote citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. NDI will work in Zambia to support democratic institutions to better able to engage with stakeholders and citizens on national policy, legislation development and citizen concerns and priorities.

The Programs Intern will provide day-to-day support for programs implementation, reporting and logistics/administrative support to the NDI programs staff.
Essential duties:
Programs
- Meeting with partners to present options for technical assistance
- Assisting in the development of training programs
- Developing training materials
- Assisting in the facilitation of training programs
Reporting
- Preparing written political analysis on current events
- Drafting written reports on program activities (meetings, workshops, events)
- Conducting monitoring and evaluation activities and providing written reports
- Other written assignments as required
Logistics
- Support hotel bookings and reservations for program activities, as required
- Draft logistics memos for international staff/consultants
- Liaison with hotel management on all hotel bookings, as required
- Support organization of transport logistics, as required
Education and/or Experience:
- Diploma or equivalent in politics, international relations, or related field
- At least two years relevant work experience in non-profits, activism, volunteering, governance
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines and assignments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google
