Job Title: User Experience/ User Interface Designer

Reports to: Business Strategist and CTO

Location: Lusaka

Purpose of job: MikaExpress is looking for a talented and experienced UX/UI designer with exceptional problem solving abilities, intuitive design skills and good communication skills. Designer should be capable of translating MikaExpress’ business requirements into customer-centered design solutions. Ideally the candidates is passionate about user experience, has original ideas but stays in touch with newest industry standards. They are responsive, flexible, and thrive in collaborative work environments.

Responsibilities:

• Lead design for multiple interfaces for customer and MikaExpress’ own internal use
• Create user-centered designs by understanding business requirements, voice of the customer, user journeys, customer feedback, and usability findings.
• Quickly and iteratively create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups and detailed UI and visual design specifications to Product and Engineering teams, as well as business stakeholders and executive leadership
• Create branding guidelines and design standardization across all of the team’s products
• Develop and maintain detailed information architecture and design specifications
• Performing metrics analysis post-launch to inform design/UX optimization efforts

Requirements:

• Portfolio of work demonstrating breadth and depth in UX and visual design. This should also include approach and process
• Experience designing applications with multiple user contact points with specialty in web design
• Professional proficiency in high-fidelity mockup and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Invision, figma or equivalent
• Expertise in UX performance optimization using qualitative and quantitative assessment
• Ability to prototype in modern front-end code such as CSS, HTML, and JavaScript and their libraries or frameworks, such as react or bootstrap
• Expertise in designing custom elements using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Corel or any similar tools
• In addition to expertise in web, working knowledge in design for mobile and other devices

Favorable Experience and Qualities:

• Experience of working in a SCRUM Environment
• Experience working with Atlassian JIRA,
• Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a strong rationale for design decisions
• Team-player – able to work both with colleagues in an office-setting and remotely
• Able to manage time effectively and prioritise workload
• Able to use own initiation and solve problems; open-minded and able to adapt to change
• Able to work effectively with people at all levels internally and externally
• Able to travel around the country and internationally, including overnight/working week stays if necessary
• Ability to learn new skills quickly; to adapt to a new environment and operate effectively within a short space of time.
