Description
The Centre for International Health, Education, and Biosecurity (CIHEB) of the University Maryland Baltimore (UMB), together with the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), are implementing the Zambia-HIV Epidemic Control for Key Populations (Z-CHECK) grant. The ZCHECK project partnering with the Government of the Republic of Zambia and community based civil society to implement community-based combination HIV prevention interventions, ensure all people living with HIV (PLHIV) know their status, HIV positive people are linked to treatment and achieve viral suppression so that Zambia achieves HIV epidemic control.
The project targets priority and key populations. Candidates meeting the following criteria are encouraged to apply.
The Data Assistants will report to the Strategic Information Associate. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Hub, district data collection and reporting for all supported facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Community Liaisons Officers to collect weekly, monthly, quarterly reports as required
- Actively participate in adhoc data collection e.g. Pre-Art Mopping Up, Rapid facility realignment
- Ensure each facility has a data review meeting on a regular basis
- Ensure timely collection of all reports and database backups e.g. SmartCare TDB, SmartCare Lite Syncing, and DHIS2
- Ensure safekeeping, proper organization, filing and tracking of data at all the facilities
- Develop and perform weekly quality control measures; identify problems and provide feedback to the facility in-charges
- Respond to/resolve all questions/problems from technical staff
- Mentor Community Data Workers, community liaison officers and community health workers in Health information system tools as well the District Information Health System 2
- Ensure timely communication of any pertinent issues to Superiors
- Conduct data quality activities and prepare reports on data quality
- Maintain an accurate and current inventory of all data equipment and supplies
- Conduct community data worker (CDW)’s evaluations periodically as requested
- Supervision of data collection activities within the MOH supported facilities
- Respond to verifications of collected data and provide feedback accordingly
- Monitoring backlog within the facilities and carrying out necessary action to clear such backlog if need be
- Conduct and participate in data quality audits and verification
- Acting as liaison between the hub M&E, Clinical teams unit and the District Health Information office
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Higher Diploma in Information Management/Computer Science or related field; a Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage
- Experience with Microsoft Access, MS SQL Server, MySQL
- Minimum 2 years experience in data management
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Analytical and attention to detail
- Experience working as data associate in health setting involving ART or HIV care
- Have a clear understanding of all M&E data collection tools and the HMIS
- Computer literacy in Excel and Word
