The University of Maryland Baltimore with funding from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) will conduct the Zambia National Population HIV Impact Assessment (ZAMPHIA 2020).
ZAMPHIA 2020 will assess progress towards achievement of the UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets on national and subnational levels. The data will be used to focus HIV services and resources to the areas of greatest need and help move Zambia closer to HIV epidemic control.
The University of Maryland Baltimore affiliate, Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation Zambia (MGIC Zambia) is currently inviting applications from interested persons, who meet the minimum requirements to apply to the key positions advertised. Project Duration is scheduled for eighteen (18) months and successful candidates will be offered employment for that period.
Community Mobilization Tech Lead
The Community Mobilization Technical Lead will all aspects of demand creation and mobilization of selected communities and districts for the survey. S/He will work to develop strategies that encourage participation assuring the community of confidentiality , safety and, security . The CM technical lead will also be able to ensure that S/He develops a surveillance and tracking system to be able to identify any messages that may be misleading or harmful to participants on the survey.
Primary responsibilities:
- Identifies stakeholders, opinion leaders and community gate keepers in target communities
- Recruits and trains community mobilizers at provincial and district levels
- Develops adequate content specific media messaging that relates and encourages participation on the survey
- Partners with civil service organizations or other entities that can mobilize and ensure active participation in the survey
- Mobilizes targeted communities, creates awareness and uses creative messaging to disseminate messages using local media and other innovative strategies
- Advocates for the project with local authorities, village leader, and civic/ religious
- Develops and implements a plan to monitor community acceptance of survey activities
- Conducts knowledge, attitude and practice surveys to provide inputs for the development of the questionnaires and methodology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or master’s in social sciences.
- Knowledge of Zambia health sector
- Experience working in a similar role on a Population-based HIV Impact Assessments (PHIA) field survey in LMIC a plus
- Strong understanding of engaging with communities and partnership development
- Experience in strategy development and planning
- Extensive experience of implementing Community Based Programs
- Ability to multitask and work with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong work ethic, high level of dedication
