Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometres. The mine is a modern, world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.
Lubambe Copper Mines is owned by EMR Capital of Australia (80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).
The Mine is currently in a ramp up stage and will ultimately produce 45, 000 tonnes of contained copper and will employ approximately 1,500 people. The Plant infrastructure consists of a Concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground infrastructure. The Concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, flotation and filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of 2.3% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be sold to smelter in Zambia.
To support this vision, Lubambe Copper Mine seeks to employ experienced and qualified individuals in the following position:
MINING TRAINING COORDINATOR
This position reports to the Learning & Development Superintendent
CORE PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To work closely with Mine Management to ensure that training programs align with the needs of the organization and comply with legal requirements.
Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):
- Supervise and support trainers and liaise with subject matter experts to ensure quality delivery and outcomes
- Conduct high-level needs assessments for the organization, and identify skills and knowledge gaps
- Organize training delivery and manage training equipment
- Manage costs, training records, evaluation, reporting and follow-up
- Analyze existing training plans
- Provide feedback to participants and mine management
- Procure training programs from outside providers
- May manage and organize apprenticeship programs
- May design and develop new training programs
- May conduct ongoing training, assessment and task certification of equipment, operation, maintenance and administrative personnel
- Evaluate operator’s performance to ensure achievement of production standards.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Degree / Diploma in Mining.
- Diploma in Training and TEVETA accreditation / Teaching methodology
- Grade 12 Certificate
- In depth knowledge of mining regulations.
- In depth knowledge of Explosive Regulations.
- Possess and maintain a clean and valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in computers (Microsoft Office package, Internet and Email services inclusive)
- Must have a minimum of 5 years demonstrated practical experience in industry.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) with employees, contractors and management
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and solve problems
- Teamwork
- Proficiency in computers (Microsoft Office package, Internet and Email services inclusive)
- Knowledge of conducting Dover and simulator assessment is essential.
- Maintain relations with MSD and other government agencies
