Description
Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometres. The mine is a modern, world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.
Lubambe Copper Mines is owned by EMR Capital of Australia (80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).
The Mine is currently in a ramp up stage and will ultimately produce 45, 000 tonnes of contained copper and will employ approximately 1,500 people. The Plant infrastructure consists of a Concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground infrastructure. The Concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, flotation and filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of 2.3% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be sold to smelter in Zambia.
To support this vision, Lubambe Copper Mine seeks to employ experienced and qualified individuals in the following position:
LAB ANALYST (x1)
This position reports to the Chemist
CORE PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To perform analysis of Concentrator and MRM samples i.e. Feeds, Concentrates and Tailings required in a section of the laboratory to provide process control data to Concentrator Department.
Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):
- Determination of copper and acid soluble Copper in the hourly or two hourly Concentrator and mineral samples using AAS/XRF technique and reporting of the same by phone/electronically.
- In charge of laboratory operations in the back shifts
- Ensure discipline is maintained in the shift
- Analysis of MRM and Geological Samples
- Analysis of Shipment Samples by Titration
- Elemental analysis
- Water Samples analysis
- QAQC Data Collection
- Perform any other work assigned by superiors.
- Has authority to report Concentrator process control results by phone/electronically once the results have been checked by the Chemist.
- Analysis of Concentrator and samples.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Education to Form Five/Grade 12
- Diploma/Certificate in Science Laboratory or its equivalent or In-house Assayer Training based on ZCCM Assayer Modules 1& 2 subject content
- At least two practical experience in basic analytical procedures and use of basic analytical instruments
- The job requires basic practical laboratory skills in AAS analytical technique, gravimetric determinations and the ability to follow documented procedures without difficulty.
