Description
Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometres. The mine is a modern, world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.
Lubambe Copper Mines is owned by EMR Capital of Australia (80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).
The Mine is currently in a ramp up stage and will ultimately produce 45, 000 tonnes of contained copper and will employ approximately 1,500 people. The Plant infrastructure consists of a Concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground infrastructure. The Concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, flotation and filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of 2.3% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be sold to smelter in Zambia.
To support this vision, Lubambe Copper Mine seeks to employ experienced and qualified individuals in the following position:
DRIVER – LUSAKA CORPORATE OFFICE
This position reports to the Executive Driver
Purpose of this position
To provide secure and timely driving services to the Projects team and Administration team
Key Performance Areas / Indicators (KPA/Is):
- Propels the vehicle in a safe and lawful manner and in accordance with Lubambe Copper Mine regulations as well as Zambian Traffic laws & Regulations
- Ensure punctuality, comfort and safety of passengers
- Ensures that seatbelts (front and rear) are always worn and passengers are instructed to fasten them as per logistics policy manual
- Ensure that every Lubambe Copper mines vehicle is always kept secure
- Be in possession of a valid driving license always
- Ensure high standard of service both to internal and external guests
- Ensures that mobile phones are not used while the vehicle is in motion, unless the car piece provided for the mobile phone is used
- Alcohol must not be consumed or present whilst on duty
- Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and tidy and in good working condition
- Ensure the vehicle is given regular/ day to day maintenance checks, oil check water, battery brakes etc.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections before using the vehicle and immediately report any mechanical faults, unusual noises or other abnormalities to your supervisor
- Ensure that all essential equipment is kept in the vehicle and is in good working condition – car jack, spare tire, first aid kit etc.
- Maintain and submit vehicle log book information to your supervisor on a weekly basis
- Report any accident immediately, however small it may be
- Ensure vehicle insurance and registration is updated according to schedule
- Perform other related duties assigned from time to time by the supervisor
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 Full Certificate
- Class C Driver’s License
- At least 7 years’ experience as a driver with a clean driving record
- Knowledge of basic mechanics
- Willing to work long hours and irregular hours when called upon
- Discreet and respect confidentiality
- Honest and with good communication skills
