Supporting an AIDS-Free Era
Position Description
John Snow, Inc. (JSI) seeks highly qualified and accomplished public health leaders and providers for the recently awarded United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/PEPFAR-funded Supporting an AIDS-Free Era (SAFE) Project in Zambia. The five-year project is being led by JSI in partnership with Abt Associates, mothers2mothers, and the Catholic Medical Mission Board, will work to reduce HIV mortality, morbidity and transmission, while improving nutrition outcomes and family planning integration in three provinces: Central, Copperbelt, and North-Western. USAID/PEPFAR SAFE will work with the GRZ, private sector and civil society institutions at the national, provincial, and district level to increase access to ART for HIV positive adults and children, reduce the incidence of new infections, improve Nutritional Assessment, Counselling and Services (NACS) and family planning services, and increase the capacity of local health institutions to better serve affected populations.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in tracking USAID SAFE inputs, activities, processes, outcomes and impact across the project’s range of services and products;
- Participate in development of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools and plans;
- Ensure the use of appropriate and recommended data collection tools;
- Provide technical support to provincial SI teams and ensure accuracy of data capture at hub and outreach site level;
- Enter data into project databases and perform quality control on entered data to ensure validity;
- Participate in tracking indicators and data validation with the assigned project team every month; ensure the indicator tracking tool is updated each time data validation is completed;
- Ensure secure storage of electronic and hard-copy SAFE project data and information, by maintaining hard copies and electronic files on the project server;
- Organize and conduct data quality audits (DQAs) in SAFE-supported provinces.
- Provide technical supervision to the SI Officers in the project’s provincial offices;
- Participate in the production of project informational materials, presentations, and publications;
- Participate in project research activities, including contributing to research proposal writing, applying for IRB approval, training of research assistants, data collection and entry, assuring all ethics and review requirements are met;
- Participate in preparation of M&E reports for PEPFAR and other reporting requirements, ensuring that data are available when needed;
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor degree and additional training, certificate or qualification in M&E or relevant field; master’s degree preferred;
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic information for international donor funded projects; preferably including experience with USAID-funded projects;
- Knowledge and experience with HIV, AIDS,STI projects, M&E data management in Zambia including data entry and cleaning, data analysis and reporting,
- PEPFAR reporting experience desired;
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and meet strict deadlines;
- Knowledge of epidemiology and evaluation research methods (qualitative and quantitative), including data processing;
- Computer proficiency including use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access and a statistics package (e.g., Stata, SPSS, SAS, R;
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, supervisory, and mentoring skills;
- Excellent writing, oral and organisational skills;
- Ability to undertake extensive local travel;
