Student Support Services Teacher
The International School of Lusaka, founded in 1963, is one of the oldest international schools on the continent of Africa, and is currently the third largest school in the Association of International Schools in Africa. ISL delivers an international curriculum, including the 1B Primary Years and Diploma Programmes, Cambridge IGCSE, and Fieldwork IMYC, to students from over 60 different countries. The teaching faculty consists of educators from more than 15 countries.
The International School of Lusaka is looking for a qualified and experienced teacher for the following position in August, 2019:
Student Support Services Teacher: Head of Department
The Students Support Services department oversees the educational development of ISL students who have special educational needs. This includes students who require Learning Support, those in our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) programme, and GAT (Gifted and Talented) students
As a teacher/HoD, the candidate
- conducts or administers initial admission testing/diagnostic evaluation of learning needs
- is responsible for planning, monitoring, assessing and reviewing student progress
- works with the external specialists/classroom teachers to design individualized educational plans, considering different teaching approaches, support materials and ICT
- oversees professional development both within the SSS department and for all teachers
Qualifications
The applicants must have a minimum of the following:
- Bachelor Degree in the relevant subject area from a recognized institution
- A recognised teaching qualification
- At least two years teaching experience in a school which implements an international curricula (IBO, Cambridge, Fieldwork etc)
