Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all plant maintenance tasks in a safe, timely and to a high quality and preventing any rework
- Be a self-starter and able to work with both autonomously and as part of a team
- Demonstrate a commitment to work place safety and the safety of your co-workers
- Be accurate, methodical, practical and safety-conscious when installing and maintaining mechanical equipment.
- Assist new employees in proper work procedures and practices
- Compliance to work order attachments and documents such as JSA’s, Work Procedure’s, SWI’s, etc.
- Ensure compliance with Safety and Environmental Management systems, policies and procedures along with ensuring that all risks have been identified, managed and safe working environment is maintained
- Full compliance to mandatory PPE requirements in all areas of the plant.
- A clear understanding of preventative maintenance, strong communication skills and a flexible “can do” work ethic.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices are maintained by cleaning up before, during and after every task and not leaving any hazards within the work place
- Have the ability to diagnose faults with equipment through observation.
- Coordinate with departmental and team members, as well as process departmental members.
- Have the ability to take care of available hand tools which includes raising work requests
- Ensure that all completed work orders are closed out with accurate time confirmations
- Be able to work overtime if need arises
- Be able adhere to safety requirements of the task
- Ensure that all tools, plant and equipment are kept in good condition, meet required safety standards and are available for use when required.
- Troubleshooting abilities
- Construction and maintenance background, with preference given to direct mining experience will be an added advantage
- The ability to make informed decisions
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- A positive, self-motivated and conscientious attitude
Experience:
- 3 years’ experience in the mining industry or equivalent private industry as a fitter.
- Troubleshooting abilities on various centrifugal pumps, conveyor drives, conveyors, experience in hydraulics will be an advantage and knowledge of cyclone maintenance and rebuilds
- Construction and maintenance background, with preference given to direct mining experience
- Experience to operate forklifts, man lifts and overhead cranes will be an added advantage
- The ability to make informed decisions
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- A positive, self-motivated and conscientious attitude
Qualification:
- A minimum of a Trade test as a fitter or its Equivalent. Higher qualifications will be an added advantage
