The combination of the First Quantum and Inmet assets has created one of the world’s leading copper producers with a geographically diversified portfolio of high-quality operations and development projects in eight countries across five continents.
With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Should possess an exceptional “Reuse, Re-invent and Recycle” ability
- Hold strong traits in identifying materials and equipment that can be put to use as described above with the added ability to determine scrap value of materials
- Holds “all round” technical skills that will be used to identify, instruct and train subordinates how to dismantle equipment of a technical nature down to component level without causing excessive equipment damage during the dismantling process
- Should have the ability to categorise material types
- Hold good cost control skills
- Should be from a background where “making a plan” is second nature
- Should be conversant in budget compilation and control
- Should possess good labour management skills
- Should have a strong ability to enforce and maintain good safety and environmental practice
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or hold an internationally recognised Electrical or Mechanical Engineering diploma
Experience
- Hold a minimum of 20 years, experience in the respective technical field
- Be of a “multi-skilled” disposition
