The combination of the First Quantum and Inmet assets has created one of the world’s leading copper producers with a geographically diversified portfolio of high-quality operations and development projects in eight countries across five continents.
With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments on critical jobs.
- Conduct Workplace Inspections.
- Audit the Supervisor’s Log Books, Pre-Start Checklists, and Safe Work Permits.
- Log in Incidents and Hazards.
- Ensure Site Specific Inductions are conducted as per Procedure.
- Monitor Planned Maintenance and breakdown works to ensure compliance with workplace standards.
- Attend Toolbox and Compliance Safety meetings.
- Monitor OH&S compliance in Engineering works in line with ISO 45001:2018
- Assist in OH&S Management System Internal / External audit programmes.
- Assist in carrying out incident / accident investigations.
- Submitting daily, weekly, monthly reports.
- Conduct safety surveillance on “THINK” programmes.
- Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor
Qualifications
- Holder of a Grade 12 School Certificate
- Certificate / Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management from recognised institution
- Knowledge of ISO 45001:2018 will have an added advantage
- Engineering background will have an added advantage
- Computer Literate (Microsoft suite)
- Holder of valid driver licence

- A minimum of 2 years’ experience within the mining industry
