In March 2013, First Quantum Minerals acquired Inmet Mining Corporation, a Canadian-based mining company primarily producing copper and zinc from mines in Finland, Spain and Turkey, with also a major copper deposit under development in Panama, known as Cobre Panama. The combination of the First Quantum and Inmet assets has created one of the world’s leading copper producers with a geographically diversified portfolio of high-quality operations and development projects in eight countries across five continents.
With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Information management, data querying and analysis.
- Preparation of performance reports to management and taking ownership of quality of work.
- Coordinate fleet management, machine health deployment and product services through auditing drill and blast and load and haul production departments.
- Offer support to production staff by assisting in running of mine material reconciliation, ensuring production plan is followed through and helping the operation realize its set targets in cost/ BCM across production crews.
- Participate in screening and awarding of projects to deserving contractors while minimizing costs and upholding quality of work and organisational ethics.
- Mentor and coach Mining engineer graduates on training and development program.
- Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Degree in Mining Engineering / Mineral Science or Equivalent
- Member of EIZ
- Computer Literate
- Driving License
- A minimum of 3 years’ post University graduation working experience in an Open pit environment.
- Ability to coordinate multiple disciplines within projects to meet customers’ specific performance requirements for quality, cost and completion targets.
