FHI360 Zambia under its new undertaking; Zambia Defense Forces Prevention, Care and Treatment Project (ZDFPCT) is inviting applications from interested persons who meet the minimum requirements to fill the positions below that are vacant. ZDFPCT is an HIV/AIDS project funded by the U.S. Government’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the Department of Defense (DOD).
Position title 1: Project Director
Reports to: Director, Southern Africa, ESARO.
Location: Lusaka
Basic function
Under the direction of the FHI 360 Country Director, the Director will be responsible for providing technical leadership and management and be responsible for the day to day running of the project. He/she will ensure the implementation and application of sound evidence based technical strategies, activities and best practices in line with the existing FHI 360 rules, regulations and appropriate national guidelines.
Duties and responsibilities
Provides leadership and oversight in all technical, program and financial activities of ZDFPCT. Provide leadership in program planning, designing and the development of key strategies, activities, workplans and ensure cost effective implementation of all key intervention areas in line with projects goals. Supervise and coordinate appropriate technical officers to effectively and efficiently implement technical strategies/activities and meet appropriate key timelines and project targets Conduct site visits to designated health facilities for the Zambia Defense Forces and provide technical assistance to these sites to ensure that interventions are implemented, and data collected is accurate, reliable, feasible and done efficiently. Preparation of key reports i.e. monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports to key stakeholders and donors as needed. Provide high level representation of ZDFPCT to all key partners and GRZ stakeholders and in line FHI 360 norms. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, skills and abilities
Experience and knowledge in working with HIV treatment and/or PMTCT health programs in Zambia Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS programming and monitoring. Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding HIV infections. Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, partners and subcontractors. Well-developed oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft word, excel and powerpoint. Ability to undertake extensive local travel, and some international travel. Ability to network and interact, as well as support effective partnerships with key stakeholders, groups and individuals. Qualifications and requirements
Doctor, Clinical Officer or Social Scientist with an appropriate first degree. A holder of master’ degree in relevant field such as MPH, Msc will be a plus. 7 to 10 years’ experience in public health, including HIV/AIDS programs Experience of care and support for HIV/AIDS at the clinical level and sound understanding programmatic technical areas is desirable Familiarity with Zambian public sector health system.
