Description
FHI360 Zambia under its new undertaking; Zambia Defense Forces Prevention, Care and Treatment Project (ZDFPCT) is inviting applications from interested persons who meet the minimum requirements to fill the positions below that are vacant. ZDFPCT is an HIV/AIDS project funded by the U.S. Government’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the Department of Defense (DOD).
Position: Deputy Project Director
Location: Lusaka
Supervisor: Project Director
Basic function
Provide technical leadership and support in HIV related clinical care service in the ZDFPCT across the country
Duties and responsibilities:
- Provides technical oversight to the ZDFPCT project to ensure compliance with laid down policies and procedures.
- Designs, monitors and evaluates activities regarding orientation, and supervision of teams who lead these activities.
- Supports capacity building and contributes to the overall strategic goals of any assigned programs.
- Creates or revises proposals as need to facilitate strategic goals.
- Trains staff on procedures and policies to achieve set goals.
- Supports management with recommendations for process improvement to achieve strategic goals.
- Supports performance management and professional development of direct reports, including ongoing feedback, coaching, and career support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Public health or its International Equivalent
- Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences International Development, Human Development or Related Field.
- Advanced training in HIV Clinical Care/ART and/or CT/PMTCT, and training in program management.
- Typically requires 8+ years of project management experience within a research environment.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
- Related prior work experience preferred.
- Experience must reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
