Description
The Electoral Commission of Zambia seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced Zambian citizen to fill the vacant position of Social Media Specialist.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To develop and execute the Commission’s digital communication strategies that promote and sustain a positive image for the Commission, and increase the Commission’s online presence to improve stakeholder engagement and communication efforts.
REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITY
The Social Media Specialist will report to the Public Relations Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages and maintains the website and intranet and employs strategies to increase traffic by making sites the first point of call for information by external and internal stakeholders. Writes content for the website and the intranet to ensure it satisfies the needs of the readers. Supplies new content to keep the website and the intranet fresh for returning visitors and to increase viewership. Works out suitable means to present information online including rewriting, abridging or restructuring texts for better legibility or logical sequence. Assists departments with drafting content and advice on matters concerning editorial policy and practice. Establishes robust processes to get content vetted for use, particularly critical updates, and to coordinate with contributors from various departments. Monitors visitor behaviour by viewing website statistics. Encourages feedback by providing means for visitors to ask questions or leave comments. Develops ability to convert news requirements into technical specifications or work with ICT Department to ensure that this is done. Converts or modifies content to a format also suited for tablet or smartphones to widen the audience and enable downloading. Identifies critical user groups to tailor published information and assess user satisfaction with services provided on the website and intranet. Monitors all press releases, speeches by the Commission etc to ensure they are available on the website in real time or shortly after they are released or delivered through other means. Establishes networks and links with strategic stakeholders in the provision of information on elections. Attends internal or external events hosted, supported or attended by the Commission and/ Commission staff to provide media coverage for real time online dissemination. Performs any other related duties that the supervisor may request from time to time. Core Skills
Proven experience as a Social Media Specialist. Keeps abreast with available technology and understands applicability and limitation of technology. Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln, Instagram, Google+ and other social media best practices. Excellent knowledge in web design and publishing. Experience with doing audience research. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team player. Good time-management skills. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent Bachelor of Science /BacheIor of Arts in Mass Communication /Corporate Communication or equivalent. Not less than three (3) years post qualifying relevant experience. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES FOR THE POSITION
