Description
The core function of a media buyer/Digital Specialist is “to book and negotiate media, ensuring that DAN Zambia delivers on the financial targets set for its clients, maximising income through accurate billing between Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) and all relevant parties while ensuring or other objectives set by the client are met.
- Runs the day to day planning of tasks for key accounts
- Process buying on approved campaigns
- Effective negotiation to improve on campaign deliverables and added value
- Liaising with media suppliers to get contracts and ensure that CI’s sent
- Liaising with strategists, clients and planners providing relevant documentation for reporting purposes
- Provide accurate and clear instructions to the planning team on any changes to the campaign.
- Develop innovative media strategies to ensure to client receives a healthy ROI
- Provide recommendations and adjustments based on analytics, data, market trends and insights
- To sought after new information regarding media
- Accurate checking of contracts vs. the costing schedules / Media flowplan
- Accurate uploading of approved campaigns onto the financial system
- Generating material chase lists and liaising with the creative agency
- Chasing of material (if necessary) / flighting codes / key numbers from creative agency / client
- Managing flighting codes / key numbers and clearly instruct the media suppliers accordingly
- Handling of financial/media and material queries
- Ensure that client is billed correctly
- Track Aegis Trading commitment performances
- Accurate filing and record keeping of campaign information
- Develop digital communication strategies
- Manage client social media pages and ensure timely content is provided.
1. Business Performance 20% Weighting
- Have a clear understanding the business targets and Revenue Plan
- Understand forecasting and how this role adds value to the business achieving financial targets. This means checking in regularly with leaders to understand how Buying impacts on finance targets with a view to remedying actions to ensure better alignment with set targets
- Partner with leaders and understand our client base and approach to acquiring new business
- Ensuring accuracy and clear understanding of client and DAN processes and to apply them effectively to ensure deadlines are met to cultivate a proactive approach to sustaining a high performance and acceptable service delivery.
2. Integration DAN and one P&L 10% Weighting
- Media buying is a contributor to getting integration right and making sure all our businesses work together to drive 1 P&L financial model
- Support the integration team and regularly engage with them to understand how their efforts align with media buying
- Ensure to meet the objectives of integration and comply with related implementation plan and delivery dates
3. Digital 10% Weighting
- Forms part of 1P&L however important to keep up to date with changes and new innovation
- Align efforts in full support of growing Digital to at least 15% of Media Spend
- Fully understand the plan for achieving 15% of Media spend in Digital and contribute to gaining leadership position on Digital
- Review current standard of skills and capability in the Digital arena, and up-skill to the required standard
- Understand how Digital delivers ROI and with this understanding contribute to demonstrating ROI from a Media Buyer/Planner view point
- Drive ownership and accountability for Digital with everyone in the team and develop capability (own and team) in digital & buying
4. Talent, Tools, Capability and Skills Development 20% Weighting
- Buyers probably experience the highest fluctuation in terms of work flow – a thorough understanding of tools is a requirement to ensure operational excellence and an acceptable standard of service delivery.
- Leverage off tools and capabilities available within the Global platform to aide operational efficiency in Zambia
- Drive and align with the DAN culture and values within the business
- Ensure effective application of knowledge and skills in Finance, Trading, Marketing and PR, Digital, by assessing current level of own capability and identifying the need for personal development required to support business growth and achieve operational excellence
- Measure capability through clearly defined KPI’s for direct reports, follow through with robust performance management efforts to ensure performance is at the required standard
- Correctly apply the tools and processes available to assess performance and provide regular feedback clearly indicating requirements for the job (Personal Best), and recording objectives to deliver to and development goals / needs
- Support team development on:
- Competitive analysis, Negotiation, Understanding Revenue (Fees vs. Time) and Profitability, PR Tool
5. Trading 40% Weighting
- Responsible for understanding the Trading Agenda and how it impacts on Media buying
- Ensure we are using preferred suppliers and delivering to Client targets
- Be able to effectively use and apply the trading systems and process to support the role and provide insight day-to-day
- Understand why we do Trading deals and apply these principles in role
- Know who our preferred suppliers are and their rates
- Understand the full process in Trading and what this means for processes in DAN Zambia and impact on client need
