Description
The Copperbelt University is a Public University established through an Act of Parliament No. 19 of 1987. CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER
Job Purpose:
To manage and be accountable for the provision of security policies, codes of practice, and security services for the University as well as provide professional advice and action to ensure a secure learning and working environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Initiate the formulation of security policies and strategies; interpret and implement security plans; To superintend over the management of risk assessment data and other assets in the University environment. Carry out risk assessments and make recommendations to senior management for decision making; Responsible for the University’s security operations and administration; To be accountable for the security budget, efficient and effective provision of operational security services to University and Support Groups; Develop operations procedures to ensure work is performed in a guided manner. Responsible for investigation and prevention of crime and ensuring perpetrators are apprehended in order to provide optimum protection of University property and lives; Review and develop comparative security strategies in line with crime trends in the University; Provide quarterly and annual reports on security issues; Liaise with other security agencies such as the Zambia Police Service (ZP), Anti-Corruption Commission, (ACC) and Drug Enforcement Commission, (DEC) on matters relating to the University security and investigations; Train staff in matters of security to ensure adequate capacity building for the needs and dictates of the profession in a dynamic corporate environment; Manage in-house and contracted security workforce; and Superintend over the management of foreknowledge in the University environment in the interest of stability in the University. Required Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience
An ideal candidate should posses the following; Grade 12 or Form V Certificate with 5 “0” levels which should include English Language and Mathematics; Possess Military or Police training at a minimum of Passed Staff College (PSC) OR its equivalent; Education to degree level will be an added advantage; Professional experience in security issues gained over a period of at least 10 years in either the private and/or public sectors; Demonstrable track record of managing risk and security functions; Good interpersonal skills and an excellent team player; Ability to work under pressure and awkward hours with minimum supervision; Sharing is Caring!
