COMMON MARKET FOR EASTERN AND SOUTHERN AFRICA
VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT OF FOUR (4) ESTABLISHED/REGULAR POSTS
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is a regional grouping of 21 African States which have agreed to promote regional integration through trade development, investment promotion and transport facilitation. More information can be obtained from the COMESA website www.comesa.int.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and interested and qualified applicants to fill the following vacancies in the Regular Established Structure at the Common Market for Eastern and Southern (COMESA) Secretariat,
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION OF SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT GS9:
A. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a higher institute Diploma in Secretarial Studies and a Diploma in any Management field from a recognised Professional Institution. A degree in any Management field is an added advantage
B. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional secretarial and/or administrative experience with regional or international organizations. She/he should be familiar with concepts of office management, records management, public relations and project management
2. REQUlREMENTS FOR THE POSITION OF ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT GS8:
A. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a higher institute Diploma in Secretarial Studies and a Diploma in any Management field from a recognized professional institution.
B. EXPERIENCE
A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant Professional secretarial and administrative experience with regional or international organizations. She/he should be familiar with concepts of office management, records management, public relations and project management.
3.REQUlREMENTS FOR THE POSITION OF SECRETARY GS6:
A. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a higher institute Diploma in Secretarial Studies and a Certificate in Administration from a recognized professional institution.
B. EXPERIENCE
At least four (4) years post qualification experience in secretarial duties.
4. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION OF REGISTRY CLERK GS5:
A. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of Grade twelve School Certificate of Education and a Certificate in Records Management
B. EXPERIENCE
Minimum three (3) Years of relevant experience working in a Records Office. Experience is in working for an international and or regional organizations shall be an added advantage.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT FOR THE ABOVE POSTS:
a) WORKING LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT FOR THE POSITIONS
Must be fluent in English and/or French and/or Arabic (speaking and writing). A combination of any two or all of these languages will be an added advantage.
b) TYPE OF CONTRACT: The above posts are under the COMESA Regular
Establishment.
c) DURATION OF CONTRACTS: The initial contract shall be effective from the date of commencement of duties and will expire after three (3) years. General Service subsequent contracts are renewed for four (4) year terms up to attainment of the retirement age of sixty (60) years subjectto continued satisfactory performance by the incumbent.
