Description

The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission a Body Corporate established under the Citizens’ Economic Empowerment Act No. 9 of 2006 to enhance broad-based economic empowerment, foster citizens’ economic ownership, control and management of economic resources, as well as to promote economic empowerment of targeted citizens is inviting applications from suitably qualified Zambians to fill the following position:

ACCOUNTANT – OPERATIONS (1 Position) – LUSAKA

Reporting to the Budget & Finance Manager, the Accountant – Operations will be responsible for the application of general accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of payroll;
  • Check all transaction requests to ensure accuracy and compliance to policy and procedures;
  • Attending to queries during internal and external audit processes;
  • Providing assistance in the preparation of the Commission budget;
  • Processing of applications for staff loans and advances;
  • Preparation of bank reconciliation on monthly basis;
  • Preparation of variance analysis reports on a monthly basis;
  • Maintenance of fixed asset register;
  • Preparation of payments for PAYE/NAPSA in compliance with regulations;
  • Maintenance of the accounts payables and ensuring that all supplier invoices are captured and up to date;
  • Maintenance of the accounts receivables and ensuring that all staff and other operational receivables are captured on time and are up to date;
  • Ensure that all outstanding imprest are fully retired;
  • Ensure that all back up documentation are properly and systematically filed to facilitate quick and proper transaction referencing;
  • Prepare weekly petty cash count report.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
  • Fully qualified CIMA, ACCA or ZICA
  • Must be a member of ZICA
  • Proficiency in Pastel Evolution and Sage Pastel Payroll/HR
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and able to prioritize work
  • A strategic team player
  • Three (3) three years relevant post qualifying experience
