Senior Pharmacy Technologist Research Ref No. PT/RS/27/01/19
Reports to Head of Pharmacy. The Research Pharmacy Technologist’s primary responsibility is to follow pharmacy procedures regarding Commodity Management and patient Pharmaceutical Care as stipulated in the Pharmacy Guidelines and specific protocols.
Main duties
- Maintains a good filing system for each study on site to avoid any potential mix up of study information.
- Ensures the integrity of all studies is maintained always for both double blinded studies and open label studies by maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensures the pharmacy is secured at all times and restrict entry policy is observed for the pharmacy areas at all times
- Dispensing, counseling participants and recording all transactions in real time as per study protocols
- Participates in all interdepartmental meetings at the clinic level to represent pharmacy and give updates to the clinic staff whenever necessary with the clearance of the PoR.
- Participates in the designing of messages for participants with regards to promotion of adherence to study medicines and other talks provided to participants concerning drug information.
- Ensures the commodity management for study drugs is adhered to without fail at all times i.e. storage conditions, arrangements, separation of study drugs of different studies, documentation and record keeping.
- Updates the PoR on the inventory status of each study product, and help in prompting for order pressing in case the PoR does not respond in time to ensure no stock outs on site of the study drugs.
- Works with the clinic staff, PoR and the Admin Assistant in identifying the non- study drugs required for the projects to ensure a good stock status for these drugs.
- Work with the POR to maintain an accurate calendar for PPD’s monitors visits and prepare for all these visits in good time.
- Assists the PoR to prepare for study drug destruction visits and final disposal of these drugs according to sponsor and local guidelines.
- Ensures the pharmacy is secured at all times and restrict entry policy is observed for the pharmacy areas at all times
Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmacy
- At least 3 years pharmacy related experience
- Experience with management of drugs and related commodities
- Knowledge of the MOH Healthcare system
- Research Experience as an added advantage
- Computer literate
- Able to work with minimum supervision
