Purpose of the position
The Provincial Deployment and Maintenance Officer is responsible to the Provincial Deployment Specialist for quality assurance and support of Health facilities to prevent disruption of services that may be caused by technical ICT failures that are preventable. The role is required to consistently monitor ICT installations in terms of networks (LANS), servers, system software and application software in use and recommend to the Health Facility management, implementing partners and IDéAS management preventative and remedial solutions to emerging patterns of problems.
Key Accountabilities
Key accountabilities for the role include but are not limited to:
You will:
- Assess, test and examine local area networks, hardware specifications, versions of software in use and system software (operating software, firmware and database software)
- Provide regular technical support services and mentoring to local support
- Support the Provincial Deployment Specialist in developing and updating the overall work plan, and quarterly and annual support plans
- Assess provincial sites running SmartCare in line with recommended standards
- Support and work with provincial deployment team during deployment services
- Work with Provincial Specialist to recommend corrective actions, preventive actions and on-site support and mentoring services
- Assist the Provincial Specialist to report on site assessments monthly highlighting risks identified
- Install, configure repair laptops, desk top computers and printers
- Install and configure windows operating systems – currently supported versions
- Trouble shoot relational database management systems including SQL Server in use
- Trouble shoot ethernet based local area networks, switches and hubs
- Communicate effectively at all levels
- Perform other functions as directed by the Provincial Deployment Specialist
Qualifications
- Diploma in IT related field preferred
- Degree in IT related field advantageous
Experience & skills
- A minimum of 3 months experience in SmartCare Deployment and Maintenance /a minimum of 2 years’ experience with large scale hardware and system deployments
- Prior experience creating/ working with IT deployments and remote technologies a plus
- Prior experience in the health sector an added advantage
- Knowledge of USG specifically CDC, USAID, procedures and guidelines an added advantage
- Knowledge of government operations
- Demonstrated record of having undertaken the scope of deployment not only for computers but also for networks and the data transmission infrastructure
