Finance Accountant at Bayer Crop Science

Based in Lusaka Zambia, and reporting into the acting finance controller, the role will be operationally responsible for general accounting, tax, fixed assets and intercompany compliance activities with support from regional, global and SSC teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of tax forecasts and submissions to group
• Calculation and payment of provisional taxes in liaison with hub tax team
• Preparation of annual and provisional income tax returns

• Review monthly indirect tax compliance (WHT) and WHT certificates
• Coordinate weekly vendor payments with accounts assistant and GSS
• Coordinate daily customer receipts with accounts assistant and GSS
• Coordinate intercompany payments and receipts
• Coordination of internal and external audits
• Prepare annual financial statements and support IFRS conversions
• Preparation of balance sheet and vendor reconciliations
• Preparation of legal entity cashflow forecasts
• Month end closing activities – TB review (P&L and Balance Sheet)
• Review monthly asset registers, history sheet, acquisitions, retirements & transfers; and monthly asset movement schedules
• Perform annual and adhoc fixed assets verifications

• Coordinate and share tag numbers for new acquisitions to relevant cost center managers; and follow up details from cost center managers to update asset register
• Cost centre; Balance sheet and Tax reviews
• Provide support to costing team on stock counts

Academic Qualification Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in business or related field
• Professional qualification in accounting or finance (Chartered Accountant)

Related Job Experience/Qualifications

• 5-7 years experience within finance.
• Good working knowledge of Zambia tax compliance requirements
• Good working knowledge of SAP and/ or other equivalent ERP
• Good understanding of IFRS concepts
• Excellent analytical and presentation skills
