BACKGROUND INFORMATION
About Bangweulu Wetlands (BW)
Bangweulu wetlands are mostly situated In tne Mucnnga’s Lavusni Manda, Luapula’s Lunga and central’s Chitambo districts of Zambia. This is comprised of residents of six separate Chiefdoms spread throughout the area making Bangweulu wetlands a unque conservation area – community partnership Park.
The area is managed by Bangweulu wetlands Management Board (BWMB), through a public private partnership comprisng of the African Parks (APN) , the communities represented by tne Community Resources Board (CRBS) and the Chiefs, the Department Of National Parks and Wildlife (DPNW) .
The responsibilities of the BWMB include management of the park with the following activities – conservation, infrastructure development to support conservation activities, ecological monitoring, law enforcement, community development and revenue generation.
JOB TITLE: AUTOMOBILE TECHNICIAN
Location: Bangweulu Wetlands
Summary of Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc ) and schedule future maintenance sessions and advise the drivers on good vehicle use
- Maintaining vehicle functional condition by listening to driver complaints
- Conducting Daily inspections and repairing engine failures
- Repairing mechanical/ electrical systems malfunctions; replacing damaged parts and components.
- Verifying vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
- Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
- Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
- Complying with company’s HSE requirements by ensuring that tasks are done in a clean and sate environment.
- Accomplishing maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Finding and identifying mechanical faults, for example in tne brakes, gears or fuel pumps
- Checking for problems in vehicles with testing equipment connected to the vehicle’s electronic control unit
- Advising the Workshop Manager on repairs needed and time estimates
- Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting
- Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
- Carrying out routine servicing and pre/post trip checks on all company vehicles
- Consulting with other mechanics on issues that seem complex

Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics
- Ability to operate all mechanical and auto tools
- Minimum 3 – 4 years’ experience as a mechanic.
- Proven experience as an Auto/ Electrical Mechanic
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
- Energetic, self-motivated and target orientated
- Must nave working knowecge ot ventle diagnostic systems and methods
- Experience with arc and gas welding
- Experience on marine engines an advantage
